PLAGIARISM POLICY

The Editorial Team of the Journal of Learning Technology and Innovation (JOLTI) recognizes that plagiarism is a serious violation of academic ethics and is therefore unacceptable. This policy outlines the definition of plagiarism and the actions (sanctions) that will be taken if plagiarism is identified in manuscripts submitted to JOLTI.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the act, whether intentional or unintentional, of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit or recognition for a scientific work by presenting part or all of another person’s work, ideas, data, or words as one’s own without proper and adequate acknowledgment of the original source.

Policy and Guidelines

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Learning Technology and Innovation (JOLTI) must be original works, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal.

Any material taken from other sources—whether quoted directly or paraphrased—must be clearly identified and properly cited to distinguish it from the author’s original contribution.

Since February 2024, all manuscripts submitted to JOLTI are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin plagiarism detection software.

Plagiarism Levels and Editorial Actions

If plagiarism is detected, the Editor-in-Chief will evaluate the case and determine appropriate action based on the level and nature of the plagiarism, following the guidelines below:

1. Minor Plagiarism

Criteria:
Plagiarism involving a small portion of text (e.g., short phrases or sentences) without proper citation.

Action:
The author will receive a warning and be required to revise the manuscript by correcting the text and properly citing the source before further consideration.

2. Major Plagiarism

Criteria:
Plagiarism involving a substantial portion of another work, including ideas, data, or text, without proper citation or acknowledgment.

Action:
The manuscript will be rejected for publication in the Journal of Learning Technology and Innovation (JOLTI). The author(s) may also be subject to additional sanctions, including a temporary or permanent ban from submitting manuscripts to the journal.

3. Simultaneous Submission

If it is proven that a manuscript has been submitted simultaneously to JOLTI and another journal, whether discovered during the review process or after publication, this will be treated as major ethical misconduct.

Action:
Sanctions will follow the same procedures as Major Plagiarism, including rejection and possible submission restrictions.

Author Responsibility

All listed authors share equal responsibility for the content of the submitted manuscript. If a manuscript is found to contain plagiarism, all authors will be subject to the same sanctions, regardless of individual contribution.

Other Plagiarism-Related Cases

In cases of plagiarism or ethical misconduct not explicitly covered by this policy, the editorial team of JOLTI reserves the right to determine and impose appropriate sanctions in accordance with journal policies and ethical standards.
