Publication Ethics

ABHIMA: Abdi Ilmiah untuk Masyarakat, a peer-reviewed journal published by Lia Center of Research and Education (Lia Core), is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This ethical statement outlines the responsibilities and expectations for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors (Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board), peer reviewers, and the publisher. These guidelines are based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adapted to support the journal’s internal policies and editorial workflow.


Our Ethical Commitment

Maintaining the integrity of academic publishing is essential. The publication of articles in ABHIMA contributes significantly to the advancement of scholarly knowledge and reflects the quality of research conducted by authors and supported by their institutions. All submitted articles must demonstrate a rigorous application of scientific methods and ethical research practices.

As the publisher, Lia Center of Research and Education (Lia Core) ensures that editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial interests such as advertising or reprint revenue.


Local Ethical Considerations (Indonesia)

In addition to international standards, ABHIMA acknowledges ethical dimensions that are unique and relevant to the Indonesian context, including:

  • Respect for Diversity
    All published content must respect Indonesia’s cultural, social, and legal norms, and avoid any material that may compromise the dignity or integrity of local communities and traditions.

  • Compliance with National Ethical Standards
    Research involving Indonesian participants or institutions must comply with national research ethics regulations and obtain the necessary ethical clearances.

  • Protection of Indigenous Knowledge
    Research that involves traditional practices or indigenous knowledge must ensure the rights of local communities are respected, including appropriate consent and benefit-sharing mechanisms.


Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is solely responsible for deciding which of the submitted manuscripts should be published. This decision is based on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope. Editors must adhere to the journal’s editorial policies and applicable legal requirements related to libel, copyright, and plagiarism.

Fairness

Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on their scholarly content without discrimination based on the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscripts submitted to the journal. Information must not be disclosed to anyone other than those directly involved in the editorial process.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials from a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without written consent from the author.


Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers provide critical input that supports editorial decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Timeliness

Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or are unable to complete the review within the given timeframe must promptly notify the editor and withdraw from the process.

Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted impartially and professionally. Personal criticism is inappropriate. Comments should be clearly expressed with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant prior work that the authors may have overlooked. Any suspected overlap with existing publications should be reported to the editor immediately.


Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate account of their research and its significance. All data and findings must be presented truthfully and transparently.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be required to provide the raw data associated with their manuscript for editorial review and should ensure public accessibility when appropriate.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must guarantee that their submissions are entirely original. Any use of others' work must be properly cited or quoted. All forms of plagiarism are strictly prohibited.

Multiple and Redundant Publications

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish substantially similar content in multiple venues.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others is essential. All influential sources must be cited appropriately.

Corrections and Retractions

If authors identify significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
