PUBLICATION ETHICS

JOVETE (Journal of Vocational Education and Technical Engineering) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Lia Center of Research and Education (Lia CORE). The journal is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This ethical statement defines the responsibilities and expectations of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors (Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board), peer reviewers, and the publisher.

These guidelines are based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and are adapted to support the journal’s editorial policies and workflow.

Our Ethical Commitment

Maintaining the integrity of academic publishing is fundamental to JOVETE. The publication of articles contributes to the advancement of knowledge in vocational education and applied engineering and reflects the quality of research conducted by authors and supported by their institutions. All submitted manuscripts must demonstrate rigorous scientific methods and ethical research practices.

As the publisher, the Lia Center of Research and Education (Lia CORE) ensures that editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial interests such as advertising, sponsorship, or reprint revenue.

Local Ethical Considerations (Indonesia)

In addition to international ethical standards, JOVETE recognizes ethical aspects relevant to the Indonesian context, including:

Respect for Diversity

All published content must respect Indonesia’s cultural, social, and legal norms and must not include material that may harm the dignity, values, or integrity of individuals or communities.

Compliance with National Ethical Standards

Research involving Indonesian participants, institutions, or data must comply with applicable national research ethics regulations and obtain required ethical approvals.

Protection of Indigenous and Local Knowledge

Studies involving traditional knowledge or local practices must respect community rights, ensure informed consent, and acknowledge benefit-sharing where applicable.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts are accepted for publication based on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors must comply with editorial policies and legal requirements related to copyright, plagiarism, and libel.

Fairness

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on scholarly content without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information to anyone outside the editorial process.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished material from submitted manuscripts must not be used in editors’ own research without the authors’ explicit written consent.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive and objective feedback.

Timeliness

Reviewers who are unable to complete a review within the agreed timeframe or feel unqualified to review a manuscript must inform the editor promptly.

Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate, and all comments should be supported by clear arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and report any suspected plagiarism or significant overlap with existing publications to the editor.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must present accurate, honest, and transparent accounts of their research, including methods, data analysis, and findings.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should ensure data accessibility in accordance with ethical and legal requirements.

Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts must be entirely original. Proper citation or quotation is required when using others’ work. All forms of plagiarism are strictly prohibited.

Multiple and Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish substantially similar content in multiple publications.

Acknowledgment of Sources

All sources that significantly influence the research must be properly cited.

Corrections and Retractions

If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.
