Analisis Variasi Sapaan Ragam Akrab dan Ragam Santai Masyarakat Jawa di Desa Mulyasri: Kajian Sosiolinguistik

Abstract

This study aims to describe the variations of forms of address in intimate and casual registers in the verbal communication of Javanese society. The focus of the study covers three aspects: (1) the forms of variation in address within intimate and casual registers, (2) the factors underlying the emergence of variations in address in these registers, and (3) the sentence patterns that contain variations of address in intimate and casual registers in the verbal communication of Javanese society. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection techniques employed were recording and note-taking, in which the researcher continuously observed the data and then recorded the results obtained from interviews with Javanese people in Mulyasri Village, Tomoni District, East Luwu Regency. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the forms of variation in address in the verbal communication of Javanese people in Mulyasri Village are found in both intimate and casual registers. The forms of address variation used include familiar forms of address and specific forms of address among family members and close friends. (2) The factors influencing the use of address variations in intimate and casual registers are determined by the closeness of the relationship between speaker and addressee, the speech situation, and the topic of conversation. (3) The sentence patterns in the intimate register tend to follow a Subject–Predicate structure, while the casual register tends to follow a Predicate–Object (P–O–K) pattern.
